Project Description
STOCKLAND MY FUNLAND
Wendouree, VIC | Play & Recreation
ABOUT THE PROJECT – IN PROGRESS
OUTHOUSE design has been engaged by Stockland because they believe we look at play in a different way. We feel that each design should have a common thread and that creating a number of different playground designs that represent and connect with the local community is key. It should ignite the imagination, rather than just provide the traditional plastic playground.
We believe that incorporating the new guidelines ‘Everyone Can Play‘ and ensuring that all designs are inclusive and follow the 7 Senses principles is vital. For Stockland each play experience should represent a place or historical point in time that the community hold dear. So, with that in mind this interactive space seeks to celebrate and intertwine the rich history found in and around Lake Wendouree, Flora and Fauna.
Offering both an educational, play and sensory experience, our young visitors will experience the fascinating local flora and fauna found in and around one of Wendouree’s most iconic locations. Venture along the tree lined lakeside water’s edge, letting the imagination run wild when stopping to explore the many discovery rock pools or simply experience some quite time reading in the local boat shed.
Log balance through the towering gum trees nestled around the interactive activity wall, whilst discovering the many nooks for the birds and insects. Follow the foot prints of the magnificent local black swans and venture into the magical reed beds and discover the interactive talking swan tubes. This space will engage in many ways, not just physical play being hiding, running and crawling, but imaginative and sensory. This is not just a space of fun, play and discovery, it’s a celebration of the rich history of Wendouree.
“The concept design is looking very exciting and I can’t wait to see it come to life.”
